I'm on a hunt I'm after you

2. Duran Duran: Hungry Like The Wolf (1982)
Directed by Rusell Mulcahy
Duran Duran/ Hungry Like the Wolf

Everybody should know this classic hit by one of the pioneers of the 80's New Wave. With 'Hungry Like the Wolf', Duran Duran gained much exposure which made them an international sensation and now considered as one of the successful English rock bands. This safari-slash-jungle themed video was named by MTV as the 15th most played music video of the network and placed 11th in its '100 Greatest Video Ever Made'. It also landed in #31 on VH1: 100 Greatest Videos and won the Grammy for Best Short Form Music Video at 26th Grammy Awards. Phew.

I have to admit that during the first time I watched this video, I wasn't really that amazed by it. But during the second time I watched it and playfully singing that 'do-do-do-do' line, I can now see why many consider it as one of the most awesome videos of all the time. The video shows Simon Le Bon (vocalist) on a hunt for a beautiful tiger-like lady as he find his way through the crowded and busy streets of Sri Lanka to the jungle where they finally 'confronted' each other. During that time, the other members of the band were also on a hunt to find Le Bon.

The video itself is actually like a very short film and some of the scenes is said to be likened from the film 'Raiders of the Lost Akr', the first of the Indiana Jones franchise. The video is very cinematic and rich with the shots of the jungle, safari animals, and the exotic location which is why it evoked the 'Indiana Jones' feel to it. I actually like how the video is perfectly in sync with the song which I find quite rare when it comes to music videos. I don't know if it just me but this video makes me want to go on a safari trip!

p.s. The little girl in the beginning is so cute and I love the 'tiger stripes' transitions.
